Built-in AugmentOS Apps

We know, you got smart glasses thinking they could do *all kinds of stuff*, but now you want more apps. We’re here to help. AugmentOS comes with a suite of critical smart glasses apps built-in, 100% free. For everything else, the AugmentOS Store has an app for that.

Get Started

AugmentOS runs all your favorite apps on the puck in your pocket, so you can use your smart glasses all day reliably, without draining your phone’s battery. To swap apps and pair new glasses, you can use the AugmentOS Manager app on your phone.

To run AugmentOS on your smart glasses, just:

  1. Pair your phone with your puck.
  2. Select your smart glasses.
  3. Enjoy your favorite apps ❤️

Questions about augmentos?

Frequently asked questions

Is it actually free?

Yes. AugmentOS is 100% free and open source. Everything built-in runs on your puck, except for speech recognition (ASR). For now, ASR is provided for free from Mentra, and soon will be supported on the edge.

How do I get a puck?

Like AugmentOS software, the hardware is also open source. Multiple companies are developing AugmentOS compute pucks. Mentra currently offers a compatible puck for $59. Links to available pucks will be posted here soon.

Will you add support for my glasses?

First go search to see if the glasses you're wondering about have an "SDK". If they do, reach out in the TeamOpenSmartGlsses Discord and suggest we add support.

How can I use this?

AugmentOS will be launching December 2024. Click here to join our wait list:

Do you have apps for iPhone and Android?

Yes, AugmentOS 1.0 will support Android and iPhone if you have a compatible puck and glasses.

Who makes AugmentOS?

AugmentOS is open source and built by a decentralized community, including contributors from MIT, Tsinghua, Mentra, University of Toronto, Vuzix, TCL, Activelook, and many independent contributors. The project is managed by TeamOpenSmartGlasses.

Developers and industry,

Meet AugmentOS-SDK

Why build for smart glasses using AugmentOS? The AugmentOS SDK is the best way to write a smart glasses app:

Develop for AugmentOS-SDK

AugmentOS is the fully open source OS for wearables.

The AugmentOS-SDK allows any existing app to run as an AugmentOS app, on the edge or in the cloud. AugmentOS 1.0 supports edge apps – Android Java/Kotlin/React Native apps that run on the edge. AugmentOS will soon support cloud apps as well – you can write a cloud app that AugmentOS will stream data to, and accept data from to show on the glasses.}
